Privacy Policy

Dahabji is an iPhone app that keeps the record of your gold and your family's gold and values it at today's prices. It is made by Moawiya Thaher. In short: your gold stays with you, there is no account, no ads, no tracking, and we do not know who you are.

What stays on your iPhone

• Your pieces and their details: type, karat, weight, price, making charge, owner and story, the names of the family members you add, your price alerts and your hawl reminders. All of it is kept in a database inside the app on your iPhone, under iOS file protection, so it cannot be opened while the iPhone is locked.
• Photos and invoices: downscaled and saved with no metadata, so no location stays in them, then each file is encrypted on the device with a key that belongs to your vault.
• The vault key: kept in the iPhone's Keychain. If you use iCloud Keychain, the key travels with it to your other devices so they can open your photos. We never see it and it is never sent to us.
• The lock: if you turn it on, Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode guards the app. iOS does the check; the app never sees your face or fingerprint data.
• Camera and photos: the camera is used only when you photograph a piece or scan an invoice, and the app sees only the photos you pick.
• Reminders: the Friday summary and hawl reminders are notifications prepared on your iPhone, not sent by a server.
• Widgets and gold prices on the Lock Screen: drawn on your iPhone from data already on it. The hide values switch hides amounts and grams there too.

iCloud sync, only if you turn it on

Sync is off until you turn it on in More. Then a copy of your vault is kept in your own iCloud, in the app's private database under your own Apple Account. Every field is sent encrypted, and photos and invoices reach iCloud already encrypted. No other server holds it, and we cannot reach it.

The backup file

If you export a backup, one file is made on your iPhone, encrypted with a passphrase you choose that is never stored anywhere. You decide where the file goes; it never reaches us. If you forget the passphrase, nobody can open the file, us included.

What leaves your iPhone

Nothing about your gold leaves your iPhone, except to your own iCloud if you turn sync on. These are all the requests the app makes:

1. Gold prices. The app and its widgets ask our server on Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) for today's prices and the price history. The request only reads, and carries nothing about you or your gold. Like any internet request, the server sees the network address it came from.
2. App settings (Firebase Remote Config). At launch, and at most once every 12 hours, the app fetches general settings, such as how long a price stays fresh and whether alerts are on. The Firebase library sends with it a random installation ID that Firebase creates, the device's language, region and time zone, and the app and iOS versions. It carries no name and nothing about your gold.
3. Price alerts (Firebase Cloud Messaging), only after your first alert. No notification ID is made before you turn on your first price alert. Then the iPhone gets a notification ID from Firebase and subscribes to public "topics", each named by country, karat, direction and price line, for example 21k in Jordan rising past a set price. That is how the alert arrives without the server knowing who you are or what you own. Turning an alert off unsubscribes it. Notification permission is asked only when you turn on an alert, the Friday summary or hawl reminders.
4. Subscriptions (RevenueCat and Apple). Purchases go through the App Store under your Apple Account. We use RevenueCat to know whether you have Dahabji Pro. RevenueCat creates an anonymous ID for this install and keeps your in-app purchase history under that ID only, not your name or email. Payment details stay with Apple; neither we nor RevenueCat see them.
5. Library diagnostics. The Firebase libraries declare in their own privacy manifests that they send limited technical data about how they run (Google calls it diagnostic data). It is not linked to you and is not used for tracking.

There is no analytics tool in the app, no Firebase Analytics, no ads and no tracking across apps or websites, so the app never asks for tracking permission. We do not sell any data or share it for advertising.

No account

No sign up, no email, no phone number. Because we do not know who you are, we hold nothing we could look up by your name or email.

Children

Dahabji is not made for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, child or adult.

Deleting your data

• Delete all data in More erases your pieces, names, photos, invoices, alerts and hawl reminders on this iPhone at once, and leaves every price alert topic.
• With sync on, the iCloud copy is deleted first, so nothing comes back.
• With sync off, you can choose to delete the iCloud copy too. This works only under the same Apple Account the vault synced with.
• Backup files you saved outside the app stay where you put them; deleting them is up to you.
• The purchase record stays with Apple and RevenueCat, because it is what restores Dahabji Pro. Deleting the app stops the notification ID.

This website

This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics and no forms, and loads nothing from other sites. Its fonts and images are served from the site itself.

Changes

If what the app does with your data changes, we update this page and its date before the update ships.
